My name is Danielle Gunnell, Founder of GIVT. GIVT began in 2015 after I felt a calling to start a child based charity. Unsure of the mission I set out into the South Florida community to research the needs. Over the next year I set my focus on underserved children suffering the affects of poverty. This research brought me to some deep and dark places such as children suffering from homelessness, to health complications, to even suicide and more. Given the dire need that existed I was astounded to find the biggest request was for the simple basic hygiene essentials. As I dug deeper I discovered that there was little to no assistance available. I quickly realized this was something that I wanted to be at the ground level of to ensure direct and immediate impact. It was my belief that breaking the cycle of poverty started at the most basic level. Maintaining optimal health, wellness, and self esteem are key to finding healing, growth, and success. In an effort to accomplish this goal our channels of distribution and community partnerships would be paramount. Today we have served thousands of children from Miami to Belle Glade and where we can’t fulfill a need we have a partner who can. We are incredibly proud to serve in the school clinics providing immediate assistance while connecting students to health care professionals who are the front line of our program. What we do will not solve childhood poverty but it does have the potential to positively change the trajectory for some.
